These last few weeks I have been eating sausage rolls in bed.
Not every day, just as a treat.
I used to be able to move much more than I can now.
Going for long long walks by the river.
Now I’m in bed all day, pain meds and staring out my window.
Pondering my life, listening to the wind, writing and thinking of the journey home.
Showing up and so consistently this year was you and your beautiful family.
For 15 years you’ve had my back. Through hangs, footy, music and parties.
Friendship with one of you turned into being friends with all of you quickly.
Now you deliver me homemade sausage rolls.
A snack that was all I felt like I could eat while recovering from chemo.
Handmade, delivered in a big zip-lock bag.
Often a surprise. A simple text. ‘Check your front door xoxo’.
They tasted good but even better knowing they were made with love from some of the best friends I could have asked for.
Thank you for showing up so consistently for me.
These batches of deliciousness have made me feel full of love.
A trusting and loving friendship in a pastry parcel.
And now I eat them in bed with a big smile.
Full of love from the best friends in the land.
Thank you so much Richardson family xoxo.
I love you dearly.
Laying there with flaky pastry crumbs all over your chest is the highest form of self care
